BMW Group has officially launched the new MINI Countryman SE ALL4 in India at a price of ₹66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This is MINI’s first plug-in hybrid SUV for the Indian market, combining electric performance with all-wheel drive. With this launch, MINI takes its first step toward an electrified future in India, following the fully electric Cooper SE.

Design and Exterior

The new Countryman SE ALL4 retains the signature MINI style with compact proportions, circular LED headlamps, and a unique clamshell bonnet. However, it now looks more sophisticated than ever.
At the front, the redesigned hexagonal grille has a gloss-black surround and is flanked by adaptive Matrix LED headlights. The body lines are smoother, and the new contrasting roof adds a sporty touch.

At the back, you’ll find Union Jack-themed LED taillights, a cleaner rear bumper, and subtle “SE” badging that indicates its hybrid identity. The 18-inch alloy wheels, available in several finishes, enhance the crossover look.
Ground clearance is 165 mm, making it practical for Indian roads despite its European origins.

Interior and Cabin Experience

Inside, the new Countryman feels decidedly premium. MINI’s playful design is maintained but now features next-gen materials and technology.
The cabin includes vegan leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and MINI’s iconic circular OLED touchscreen—a 9.4-inch central unit that controls navigation, media, drive modes, and EV functions.

The driver benefits from a 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display, and a Harman/Kardon sound system. Boot space is 405 litres, which expands to 1275 litres with the rear seats folded—reasonable for a compact luxury crossover.

Standard features include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, wireless Apple CarPlay, and power-adjustable front seats. The build quality feels solid, and the cabin insulation has significantly improved compared to the older petrol Countryman.

Powertrain and Performance

This is where the “SE ALL4” badge gets its meaning.
The Countryman SE uses a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor, generating a combined power output of 224 hp and 385 Nm of torque.
Power goes to all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission and MINI’s ALL4 AWD system.

Performance numbers:

0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds

Top speed: 198 km/h

The 10.0 kWh battery delivers an electric-only range of about 50 km (WLTP), perfect for short trips. Charging time with a standard 7.4 kW AC charger is around 3.5 hours to 100%.
MINI claims a combined fuel efficiency of up to 47 km/l (hybrid mode), depending on driving style.

Safety and Tech

The Countryman SE ALL4 is equipped with:

  • Six airbags
  • Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
  • Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
  • Park Assist with reverse camera
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

You also get several driving modes—Green, Mid, and Sport—plus an EV Mode that allows you to drive purely electric when the battery has enough charge.

Competition and Market Positioning

At ₹66.90 lakh, the Countryman SE ALL4 fits below luxury EVs like the BMW iX1 (₹66.9 lakh) and Volvo XC40 Recharge (₹57.9 lakh), while offering something unique—hybrid flexibility combined with MINI style.

In India, it competes more indirectly with:

  • Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d
  • Volvo XC40 Recharge
  • BMW X1 xDrive20i
  • Audi Q3 40 TFSI

Its strongest advantage is its dual power source—providing EV efficiency without range worries.

Verdict

The 2026 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 is a stylish, enjoyable hybrid SUV that balances eco-friendliness with excitement.
It’s compact enough for city driving, powerful enough for weekend outings, and premium enough to feel special.

If you want to go electric but still enjoy the character of a petrol engine, this could be the ideal solution.
At ₹66.90 lakh, it’s on the higher side but reasonable for what it offers: MINI charm, BMW engineering, and electric practicality in one attractive package.
